The Cornucopia of Imperfect Plenty
It’s no secret that eating healthy in America is considered a privilege. With the relatively long expiration dates on packaged foods making them cheaper and easier to transport (not to mention the fact that many states subsidize junk food as a result of lobbying by food industry superpowers) many associate fresh or organic produce exclusively with the rich and privileged. One frugal person shared the good fortune they enjoyed by simply asking their local farm stand if they had any damaged or unsellable produce.
Any oddly shaped or imperfect-looking items couldn’t be sold, so they just gave it away for free. If only it was always that easy for us all!
